The Weekend

Pattern: Vog On

Yarn: Piece of Beauty Sock Yarn.

Colour: Seat by the Fire.

Very, Very quick to knit. I did this one on 2 train journeys with a few hours added for good measure.

Over the weekend I managed a trip to the Wensleydale Longwool Sheepshop.......oh dear. Will save me carrying it home from Ally Pally though. 200g of sock wool and 200g of Aran I had my eye on them at Harrogate Knitting and Stitching show but ran out of cash.

AND my Mum, in her attempt to reclaim her house, had found this.....obviously mine.

7 skeins of Rowan California Cotton in Sage.

First instalment

I'll leave you with these. Have a lovely, dry, weekend one and all.

Well I think they're nice!

.Heel Detail.

Yarn: Hobbledehoy Merino Sock. I have my eye on some more.
Colour: Mazurka
Pattern: Diamond Lace (found on Ravelry)

Monsters from the Deep - Part 1

For some strange reason, possibly a visit to my mums, I dug out one of the monsters from the bottom of the bag. I was hopeful of getting it finished to take North this weekend but alas it will be finished by the end of next week instead. Very, very lazy I know but she likes to be kept busy and if it waited for me it would be another year!

What it should and hopefully look like and the in progress version. Have I mentioned how I hate Ribbing!!
The next monster is Moss stitch which I dislike even more. The project after that is this
More Ribbing......but no sleeves this time.
All with a smattering of Christmas knits and socks thrown in between of course. Less than 22 weeks to go.

Todays Stars

I have added a Flickr button to the side if you really want to see ALL the yarn I have!

Of course digging all these out means I want to start more things but it also means I have noticed the lack of Posh Eva in my stash. Roll on October.

08:30 - The Owl still hasn't delivered a certain book, Amazon told me it was getting ready for dispatch on Tuesday! Enjoy, those of you who read children's books like me.

As if it were needed!

Ravelry has forced my to dig everything out, nice to re-visit some purchases. It does emphasise the need for the stash along! 27 yarns listed today and that does not cover The Yarn Yard or worse still Posh.

Faster Faster.

Including

PY Emily = 5

PY Eva = 2

PY Lucia = 12

PY Saskia = 1

PY Sophia 2ply = 1

PY Sophia 4ply = 8

PY Sophia 8ply = 4

And I still love all of them, this has got to be an addiction!

More Focus might help!

1 Jaywalker finished, see earlier post.
1 Jitterbug basic sock in Velvet Bilberry, finished.

AND the Hobbledehoy yarn from a few months ago was shouting very loud. Gorgeous yarn and the colours are just me. Thanks to Ravelry, told you it would be dangerous, I found this Diamond Lace pattern. This is how far I got on my train journeys today.

I get an awful lot of sock knitting done on the train, very portable especially with these. One currently holds the yarn for all the above and the current project on the needles along with various notions. I seem to have been noticed a bit recently, a lady sitting next to me the other week was fascinated with what I was doing and admitted she got stuck with Casting off. Yesterday what I would say was a teenager, but I am getting old, said she had trouble with 2 needles. Good job I was only using 3 at the time. Its certainly better than everyone sitting ignoring each other.

Another holds this. Mystery Stole 3 end of clue 2. I love the colour, thankfully, and the beads don't look that bad either. Its just not very photogenic.

So I really do need to get going and finish something. Its going to be a busy weekend.

Suprise. No Chocolate or Duck Egg...

But no Black either, phew.

The supposed Duck Egg. A very, very nice Emerald destined to be either Spring Things or Kiri.
This is the ColdSpring Mill 1.99 per skein bargain. It did felt slightly, I have a pair of these mittens in mind.
This was my Kool-Aid attempt, not really me. so it became this.
Very similar to the Jitterbug I am knitting with at the moment, perfect for sensible work socks!
I enjoyed the experience once the mask came off!

Secret Santa update and Dyeing

One for my Secret Santa, progress on the Regia Bamboo Jaywalker. This is lovely wool to knit with and a ball just makes 1 sock, so little wastage.
This afternoon I am trying out Acid dyeing, wasn't very successful with Kool-Aid at least for my bright tastes. In my mind I am going to do a delicate duck egg blue with Chocolate Brown so hold this thought in your mind for when you see the black yarn that may result. I am no artist, once in art at senior school I was unable to replicate the previous weeks colour so I just painted the whole sheet black. Doesn't bode well! On the plus side the sun is out.

Ravelry and Mystery Stole3

This is going to be so dangerous......but fun!

On the Mystery Stole, I have finished the first clue. It is not very photogenic at the moment but what lace is before blocking.

This is such fine yarn compared to what I'm used to knitting but I love the effect.

Sock it to me - June 2007

Bit of a catch up month using yarns that have been here a while.
Koigu Broadripple, yarn has been in stash over 6 months.
Natural Dye Studio BFL, this has been resident for over a year.
Yarn Yard Merino colour Blink, a very recent arrival. The pattern this is based on is the Colinette Jitterbug label. Gorgeous yarn, very soft and similar to Posh Yarns Emily.
Crew Socks from Interweave Knits Summer 2007 edition. These are my first Toe up attempt which also have short row heels and a sewn cast off. So its been a learning curve, as they say. The Yarn has been around for about 6 months and is Posh Yarns Lucia in Twinkle colourway.
Will do Toe up again but possibly not Short Row heels, don't quote me on that one though.
