Problem solved

You may recall my pattern problem of last Sunday. It was of course me not the pattern that was at fault so to prove I am not a total idiot here's the finished products. Both versions look good.

It is of course all to do with where you place the YO at the end of a needle, on the corkscrew pair I was carrying this across to the start of the next needle. Socks are knit in Hip Knits sock wool (don't know the colour) and Colinette Jitterbug Jay. The jitterbug is a lovely wool but its a close shave as to whether theres enough to finish a pair of socks. Its the second ball in, as you can see there was plenty of the Hip Knits wool leftover. The other ball is Posh Yarn Helena in Pirate, you'll see the results of that when I disclose February's count.

Contrasts

Lots of yarn has landed on the doormat this week, hopefully I'll get some good light tomorrow to photograph it. In the meantime, heres a look at a Posh Yarn that I bought at the last Sale, Emily Polka. It looked bright enough for me in its raw state.
BUT

I love it even more now its been wound into a ball and am having trouble finishing off my current project for Februarys count before I attack it.

Is it just me? - Ramblings of an idiot

I have just started Miriam Feltons Razor Shell socks and look whats happening.
They should look like the top picture but the pattern is going round instead of down. I haven't been very well this weekend but didn't think it had affected my brain! Daren't investigate too much because I quite like how its going but it certainly isn't like that pattern. I have searched the Internet to see if anyone else has had a similar problem but, of course, they don't appear to have. So apologies to the pattern owner, I will try again when I have finished this pair.
Would be interested if anyone else has had a similar experience.
I just know you all think I'm using a different pattern, I have questioned myself and the other half just says its all gobbledygook, what use are they in a crisis.

Bad Bad Girl

Socks that Rock order.
I can only apologise for leading anyone astray who reads this but I myself was influenced by Gilraen, in a nice way of course. So the colours are G Rocks, January One and Lagoon. I have also ordered these patterns. I don't like spending a fortune on wool and then doing a plain sock, sometimes you have to though because the colours would drown the pattern of course.

Hope you all have more willpower than me, or enjoy the yarn.

Huge Thanks and pretties

A huge thanks to Claire, the parcel arrived today and there was not only wool but Chocolates. They have been stashed in a dark corner of the fridge for Saturday night when I am home alone! So hopefully the Jaywalkers will be finished in the February quota.

I seem to be having a bit of a social life this fortnight, it does get in the way of the knitting though and is definitely not good for the diet. Last night I went out with friends straight from work, we ate at Masala Zone. Even my Asian friend thought the curry was hot! It was goan Prawn Curry as part of a Thali which is a tray with little pots of curry/dhal/rice etc. Something Masala Zone specialises in, their curries also appear to contain very little oil which is a blessing when you think of the number of Indian meals that have an oil slick floating on them. Perhaps we don't shop at the right takeaways.
Friday night I am eating out again, this time at a newish restaurant in Brighton Wokmania, have found both good and bad reviews of their other restaurants so I'll let you know.

Last but not least here's a preview of what greeted me on my return last night. They will be revealed in all their glory tomorrow, hint hint.

Pinters People

A weeks passed me by. Am back on the socks and know that February is a short month so no time to blog!

Friday night we stayed in London and went to see Pinters People mainly because of Bill Bailey but all the actors, and there were only 4, were excellent. Sadly the theatre wasn't very full but those there appeared to appreciate the humour. Saturday was, and I emphasise was, going to be a trip to Borough Market or Tate Britain. Very similar venues of course. There wasn't much of a fight as the weather made our minds up, we caught the train straight back to Brighton and proceeded home just before the rain got here.

Fed the 5,000 for lunch today and can feed another 5,000 with the leftovers. Don't like to go short. Just winding down with a nice glass of Torres Gran Coronas Cabernet Sauvignon, so I'm informed, personally I would have said something Ruby coloured but I have no class!

Cheers.

Posh Sale and "Posh" scarf.

Sophia lace in Fibber.
Lucky me. I was only looking for lace this week but the colours of this proved too irresistable.
Lucia in Serendipity.

I think I socked myself out a bit in January so started knitting Argosy, an early Christmas scarf! It is about 40 rows off being finished. Will do another as the pattern is easy, but in a few months time. Will be back on socks next.

Hand Maiden Silk Cashmere, the colours are a little deeper than the picture shows. Maybe one day I will read the Camera instruction book.

More socks to follow.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Yesterday was a day of little knitting. Hurrah say some. I wasted Thursday evening and Friday knitting a curly scarf, no mean feat, and then frogging it on Saturday morning. I am a perfectionist sometimes and the wool has to suit the pattern.

So Saturday started with a trip into Brighton, i think I've mentioned this before Why don't shops open til 09:30 or 10:00. Wasted valuable time hanging around. Dispatched a package to New Zealand to Claire who has generously volunteered a swap so I can finish my Jaywalkers. What a well travelled skein that will be. Then on to the Brighton Centre and a Boden Warehouse sale which proved like alot of these events to be full of rubbish. Being the bag fiend that I am I managed to find this. The rest of the day was taken up with trialing a new cookbook, I have hundreds, which I have avoided buying for some years but on reading this blog I decided I had to have it. So I now have a freezer stocked with Chocolate Ginger cake, Chocolate Beetroot Cake and we are having to eat Chocolate Lemon Drizzle cake! What hardship. The days grand finale was Gordon Ramsay's Malaysian Chicken Curry.

This morning I have put the finishing touches to a Cherry Garcia, if you click on the link it will make sense, to match some Fetchings I knit sometime back. I am now going to frustrate myself by attempting Moebius cast on and still be back here at 18:00, I wonder why? 13:43 have now abandoned moebius and have ordered Cat Bordhi's book.

Natalie I received my wool and needles yesterday and had to put sun glasses on, delicious.

Sock it to me! - January 2007

2 complete pairs.
4 1/2 single socks.

Yarn bought = enough for about 20 pairs......ooops must schedule more things for 1800 on a Sunday, I blame one woman for putting temptation in my way. Dee XX

Heres this years first update on my socks knit each month challenge. Despite dragging some of these lovely wools from my stash I have added more, have to knit faster.

Completed pairs. Monkey in Cherry Tree Hill Serengeti. Plain stocking stitch in Piece of Beauty Sea Bream.

Yarn Yard Pink Goth plain stocking stitch, Posh Yarn Jaywalkers and Posh Yarn Cable/Rib. the pink and cable rib had their other halves knit between Christmas and New Year.
And to prove my honesty, the final complete sock in Schoeller & Stahl Fortissima along with the Posh Yarn rib sock that I had to leave alone yesterday. Picture hasn't done either of the colourways justice.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP

I have finished one of the Jaywalker socks and have less than half the wool remaining. When will I learn that pattern requirements are there for a reason and that knitting quicker will not conjure up more yarn. SO if anyone does read this blog and has a small amount of Posh Yarns October Sock Club yarn that they would be willing to part with, please, please, please, pretty please let me know. I am on the verge of considering frogging......now that sounds very dangerous to me as it may have to include copious amounts of alcohol to calm the nerves. Can you tell this is a desperate woman talking?
